Activity involves some physical effort but with relative comfort. This Applies to short walks on partially paved paths, or well-maintained trails with little or no tilt.

THE TRAILHEAD

From Cerro Punta head towards Las Nubes (about 6km northwest of Cerro Punta) right after the park entrance to your right is the restaurant run by the La Amistad Agro-ecotourist Association (they are open for breakfast and lunch - see contact info below on " local guides"). Keep the main road and you will arrive at the ranger station. The trailhead is very close to the station.

THE TRAIL

This is an excellent path to take young children or those who feel a bit intimidated by the forest. It is well marked, is short and very comfortable. No need for a guide unless you want to learn more about the local flora and fauna.

FACILITIES

The ranger station has facilities (restroom, sitting area and picnic).Visitors can sleep at the station with reservation.

THE TIPS

Bring:

  1. Enough water
  2. Waterproof hiking boots (see a “little extra”)
  3. Hikers First aid kit
  4. Rain gear
  5. Enough food
  6. Optional: insect repellent, head lamp, hiking pole, proper camping equipment

Dry Season – there is no real dry season, just rains a little less
Rainy Season – muddy trail
