The trails that cross this region, comprised of the provinces of Panama and Colon, changed the world. Through the historic King´s Road (Camino Real) crossed the silver forged Spanish Empire, considered by many as the first global empire. The ruins and traces of this empire are found spattered within the tropical rainforests that today protect the flow of the great Chagres River, main vein of the Panama Canal.
